NEW YORK LIFE CLAIMS QUICK PAY PROCESS

New York Life is known as the "Company You Keep®." For more than 150 years we have been dedicated to being there when our customers need us. New York Life’s AARP Claims Department understands the importance of upholding this tradition, and is dedicated to fulfilling our promise to AARP members and their beneficiaries at claim time. We realize that this is a difficult time for all involved, and we strive to provide prompt and reliable service.

As your insurer, we have a responsibility to respond to a claim notification as quickly as possible. We continuously stress the importance of providing claimants with the proper claim package in a timely manner. In fact, we have successfully responded to claim package requests within 24 hours of receipt of the initial notification in nearly all cases.

Additionally, we are committed to processing these claims in a timely fashion. By using the latest technology and continually looking for ways to improve our practices, we are able to pay most incontestable claims within 24 hours of receiving the required documentation. Of course, there are claims that may require additional inquiries and, therefore, take longer to process.

New York Life’s AARP Claims Department is dedicated to providing our customers with the highest levels of quality service. We pride ourselves on processing claims accurately, timely and fairly to help your loved ones during a difficult time.

SIMPLIFIED UNDERWRITING MAKES FOR EASY ENROLLMENT

The AARP Life Insurance Program from New York Life, does more than just offer quality life insurance to people age 50+: we help them get it. That’s why we’ve made it easy for AARP members and their spouses to apply for any of our affordable plans.

Applicants are never asked to take a medical exam, blood test or urinalysis. In fact, most of our insurance plans require little more than the answers to the three simple health questions on our Enrollment Form. Once received, our experienced, skilled Underwriters use their extensive knowledge of diagnostic procedures and pharmacology to evaluate any medical history. If necessary to obtain additional information, an Underwriter will personally call each applicant, most of the time, to make sure we receive the most accurate and complete understanding of their health.

As a result of our easy enrollment and simplified underwriting, New York Life is proud to say that 80% of all applicants have been approved for coverage since the AARP Life Insurance Program began. We’re pleased that we’ve been able to help more than a half-million AARP members secure the financial protection they need to help make a better future for their loved ones.

AUTOMATIC PAYMENTS SAVE TIME & MONEY

Currently, almost 40% of certificate holders take advantage of this option. You have the convenience of never having to write a check, pay for postage, or worry about a late or missing payment. And, some certificate holders may be eligible for a discount off monthly premiums.

FAST, COURTEOUS AND EFFICIENT SERVICE

According to a recent survey reported in the Wall Street Journal, New York Life has received among the highest customer approval ratings in the industry1. At the AARP Life Insurance Program’s Customer Service Center in Tampa, we are striving to handle each telephone call from an AARP member with the highest level of professionalism and respect.

Each week, New York Life’s AARP Customer Service Center receives more than 11,000 calls. We answer 80% of those calls within 20 seconds, and we’re striving to improve that every day. Monday is our busiest call day, when approximately 35% of the week’s calls are received. (You may wish to call another day for the quickest service possible.)

Once your call is answered, no matter what day of the week you call, our licensed representatives will take whatever time is needed to handle your inquiries.

NEW SERVICES FROM AARP NOW AVAILABLE FOR MEMBERS!
 
AARP LifeAnswers: Real-Life Solutions to Real-Life Problems

AARP LifeAnswers is a new benefit designed to help AARP members find the resources available to help them cope with a variety of social concerns.* While the service addresses nearly every issue affecting individuals and families, it offers three free core services:

1. Adult/Eldercare Resource and Referral Services — Advice and referrals on aging–related issues.

2. ChronicMedTM Support Services — Information on chronic medical conditions.

3. Child/Family Resource and Referral Services
— Guidance and referrals on youth and family related issues.

Information is provided by trained professionals whose expertise can be accessed via a free website.

For an optional fee of just $75 per case, the consultation service will provide up to 12 months of personal assistance, via telephone access, to anyone in need of direct communication and advocacy. Both the website and consultation service is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

AARP’s Legal Services Network: Your Link to the Law

It can be hard finding an experienced attorney. It can be even harder finding one you can afford. That’s why AARP has established the AARP Legal Services Network (LSN).*

The LSN program connects AARP members with attorneys who have been carefully screened to meet LSN standards of experience and customer service. Each participating attorney has attended a LSN orientation, had their bar standing and malpractice insurance checked, and completed a detailed application about their practice. Network attorneys have agreed to provide AARP members with the following services:

Initial Consultation, Up to 30 minutes: ..............FREE

($75 for a couple with similar distribution plans)

Health Care Power of Attorney and Living Will:.. $35

Financial Power of Attorney: ..................................$35

Other Legal Services: 20% reduction (off the attorney’s usual rates)
